Delight

I rode home today after work. It was supposed to rain but showers stayed at bay. It was a delightful ride. Riding slows me down......I started to notice the cherry blossoms on tree lined street. The breeze was starting to blow petals lightly through the air. Lovely :)

Hiking

I found a book lately called "Deepest Thoughts" by Jack Handey. I started to read a few of them and each one seemed more funny than the previous one. So my question is: is this one funny or have I just gone looney???

" A funny thing is if you're out hiking and your friend gets bitten by a poisonous snake, tell him you're going for help, then go about ten feet and pretend you got bit by a snake. Then start an argument about who's going to go get help. A lot of guys will start crying. That's why it makes you feel good when you tell them it was just a joke."

I looked up ...and I saw Spring a comin'..

"I looked up and I saw Spring a comin'
Down the road."

"Hallelujah, He is coming
Hallelujah, He is here...."

Okay, the real song is an old spiritual song. But it suits the arrival of Spring, too. Today was the first day in a long time that we had sun almost the whole day! and warming weather to go with it!! Crazy!

It makes me want to sing........"I looked up and I was the wind arising...." No, no wind! Well, it is supposed to increase a little tomorrow.....not enough, I hope, to stop me from taking my bike out of the dark reaches of the garage, pumping up the tires, and cycling off into the sunrise!

I confess, I haven't ridden since the late fall when I laboured against 85 Km head-on winds to get home and then cycling on one of the wettest record-breaking days of the early winter, 2006.

I'm ready to gear up (or down) again! Keep the sun shining! Head off the winds at the pass!!

Hmmmm.....
"I looked up and I saw myself a-cycling.
I looked up and I saw myself a-cycling
Down the road..."

"Hallelujah, I am riding!
Hallelujah, He is here....."

Did I forget to mention...... "Yippee-dooo-dahhhhh!!!!"

another writing about Great Aunt M.

Check this link out about a special aunt. It's a wonderful tribute. I printed it up for Aunty Marge and she was very touched by it. Well done , Laura! :)

My Aunty Marge

Well, first thing is she was more than just "my" Aunty Marge, she was "our" Aunty Marge because we all shared our connection with her. We called her the matriarch recently at our family gatherings and yet she was an independent woman for many years and we rarely saw her. She grew up the eldest of three. She had a younger brother (my dad) and an even younger sister called "the kid" (more often known as Aunty Dot.)

In early January, Aunty Marge moved into a nearby hospice. She gave up her apartment of 34 years...but only out of necessity. She would have stayed if she was well enough.

The picture below shows the TV in her hospice room where Geo and I would show her pictures of family gatherings that she missed....of family saying hi to her in little videos. The last little videos I showed her were on the day before she died. She saw a little video of F., one of her favourite great-great nieces, saying "hi Marge". She didn't say anything but smiled a little and lifted her hand in a little wave.

One quote from one of her great nephews in an email: "I did get a chance to
see her and we had some fun moments and good laughs. She was really happy that you and Uncle George and the whole family always visited."

She passed away yesterday morning. She was 95 years and 5 months old, born in 1911. Well done, Aunty Marge!

Long Time, No Write!

Greetings dear friends who check this blog once in a while.

The wedding is over. Report cards are being written before this blog entry and after. Procrastination! you may say. Nay!! it's winddown time at the end of an eventful day. A visit to my elderly aunt (sadly missed at the family gathering), a baby dedication, a big extended family dinner.

Pictures taken.

Okay this is an old picture.

That picture was taken last November. I'll see if I can include a current one. (Hmmm. argh! Aaah! No...try again....now, at last!)

Ah yes..

Did I forget to mention it? This is little E., son of the Gre. and Tere., sister to little F., grandson of G. and me.
Little E. was dedicated on Sunday, March 4th 2007. Not only was he dedicated....his parents were also dedicated and prayed for. :)

Here he is with his "Daddy"

He is the newest addition to our household. We are now 6 plus two dogs.

More later.........
